HOW THE COLLEGE ILLINOIS! ® 529 PREPAID TUITION PROGRAM WORKS

Students can use College Illinois! 529 Prepaid Tuition Program benefits at schools not specifically covered by their prepaid tuition plan. Prepaid tuition benefits may be used at eligible private and out-of-state schools across the country. At these institutions, the benefits paid will equal the weighted average of tuition and fees (WAT) for the contract type held by the student.

Students can also use benefits at other Illinois public institutions not covered by their prepaid tuition plan. The amount paid is converted based on the current WAT for the plan type (Community College, University or University +). Each year, the WAT is recalculated to keep pace with tuition increases at Illinois public institutions.
